Last of the Leeks

By roses382, Mar 29 2016 06:02PM

The Leeks this year have not been the largest I have grown, but have provided a few meals. Their main attraction though, is in the beauty of the leaves, which have stood through the worst of the weather, adding colour and interest which otherwise would be lacking. The variety I grow is 'Northern Lights' available from all the major seed suppliers. It has deep bluish leaves with purple tinged tops, a quite beautiful combination. The photo is not the best, but the colours looked gorgeous against the bluish-pink of the potted heathers on the patio table. I was tempted to leave them there as a sort of 'still life' for a few days, but dinner was needed, so that was that.
